Adult Psychiatry & Psychotherapy
Adult Psychiatry & Psychotherapy
I am a board-certified psychiatrist offering in depth psychotherapy and medication treatment to adult patients in the South Sound. I have experience treating a broad range of mental health concerns, as well as problems in relationships, work, loss, life transitions and other sources of stress. As a physician, my goal is to provide evidence-based care that is comprehensive and tailored to fit your needs. Together, we can explore the things that make you feel stuck, and help you to live your life with meaning, purpose and authenticity.
I can help navigate the complexities of mental health treatment, whether that involves primarily therapy, or the addition of medications if it seems they might be useful. Regardless of the treatment plan we develop together, I believe the strength of our relationship is the key to success.
In addition to my practice, I currently hold a courtesy faculty position at the University of Washington and enjoy supervising psychiatry residents.
General Information
My focus is psychodynamic psychotherapy, which is a type of therapy that explores unconscious processes and their impact on relationship patterns. I provide medication management, as needed, in combination with at least once-weekly psychotherapy. Please note, I only see adults 18 and older in my practice. I offer both in-person and virtual appointments, if appropriate for your needs.
Brief Phone Call
(10-15 minutes)
Prior to scheduling, we will talk briefly over the phone to discuss your current needs. If it seems we are a good fit, we will schedule an initial psychiatric consultation.
Initial Psychiatric Consultation
(60 minutes)
This is typically our first visit. We will meet together to develop a better understanding of your concerns, review your mental health and medical history, and discuss your initial diagnosis and treatment options. The first three visits are considered a consultative period to see if we are a good fit. If my expertise is not a good match for your needs, I can assist you with a referral to another provider.
Follow-up Therapy Visit, with or without medications
(55 min)
After our initial consultation, we will meet weekly for therapy and make adjustments to any medications, if needed.
Due to the limitations of my practice, I am unable to provide the following services: couples/family/group therapy, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), intensive outpatient chemical dependency treatment, case management, disability evaluations, forensic evaluations, Labor & Industries assessments (L&I), court-ordered treatment, and assessments for work, child custody, emotional support animals or weapon ownership.
I am currently "in-network" with the following insurance companies:
I am considered an "out-of-network" provider with all other insurance plans and bill patients directly. Upon request, I will provide you with a bill that you can submit to your insurance company to seek possible reimbursement. I encourage all patients to contact their insurance company to determine the exact amount you will pay for out-of-network services prior to our visit. Please note that that Medicare does not provide any out-of-network reimbursement.
For out-of-network patients, payment is due in full at the time of your visit via cash, check or credit card. Please contact me for more information regarding my current fees.
